About the artwork

Throughout history, the culture of populations has always influenced the artistic currents and the genes that developed them have contributed to fuelling cultural phenomena and contemporary fashions. This painting is inspired by the Colombian, Cartagena traditional tribal masks. Normally intricately made straw masks, handcrafted each piece is dyed and inlaid by hand one by one. The elaboration of these often possess zoomorphic forms, products of the “cultural miscegenation between Africans, indigenous and Europeans” and popular imagination.

My Tribe All spraycan paintings show a mixing of styles and artistic currents that refer to different cultures, fusing these together on the canvas. Celebrating and promoting all the wonderful diversity there is in this world. The faces are painted on spray cans referencing my own background and fusing my signature style with the cultural inspiration. Tribe All represents a sense of togetherness.
