Yulia Lisle

ABOUT

My name is Yulia Lisle, I am a wife and mother of two beautiful children, a 19-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter. I am also an artist, art teacher, and art therapist. How many feelings are reflected in each of the above words, and how much I want to say about myself as an artist. I paint pictures in a floral theme, I love flowers and what can be done with them. I also love to grow them, I have a garden, which I try very hard to imprivw each year, like my paintings. I paint with a three-dimensional technique, so that you, as a viewer, are imbued with a sense of contact as much as possible. I often use saturated, bright and sonorous colours in my paintings. So that, as in music, everything sounds and moves from one place in the painting to another. I really like to look at my paintings and immerse myself in their space, to fully live in myself and my state; to see these vivid memories from the place where I was born. Because there every season of the year was in its full glory and I really like it, summer is hot, autumn is golden, winter is frosty, and spring is the smell of flowers. It is precisely from here, since childhood, I have gained a great love for flowers. I invite you into my world of art, I hope it will be as fragrant and colorful for you as it is for me.

How would you describe your work to someone seeing it for the first time?

My works have been exhibited at the international level. I use oil paints and a palette knife to build my paintings in successive layers, which adds dimension to work. I am primarily focused on floral images, with a colour palette that is rich and joyful allowing the full expressiveness of nature's flowers to shine through. My paintings evoke serenity through their balanced combination of colors, tone, and negative space.

Maybe you would say something extra, dear reader? It’s somehow difficult for me with this question. How would you describe my work, after all it is the viewer who will be seeing my paintings and the emotions I put into them.

What and which artists have influenced your work?

I am very in love with the impressionist period. Each artist of this age gave me something of his own, from Van gogh I borrowed love for the open air, from Paul Gauguin to look into my heart and to paint from the heart, from Claude Monet to capture the state of colour, from Camille Pissarro to see the fantastical outside of your bedroom window. Finally, from Bertha Marizo, her love of painting. I love visiting exhibitions and getting into the artist's work through personal feelings and perceptions.

If you could collaborate with any artist past or present, who would you select and why?

Bobbie Burgers her abstract paintings impress me with their lightness and size, I would really like to spend a day in her studio. Also, I would be in a huge creative shock after spending a day with Claire Basler, her painting style is very strongly individual and I really like the way she paints walls. I would love to work with her on one of the projects. If these two dreams become possible, I would like to go further down my wish list.

What can we expect to see from you in the future?

Definitely progress with my style and the size of my work. I have a dream to work on huge canvases and create collaborative projects with other artists.
