I drew and painted since ever, inspired by my very artistic family. I spent my early infancy in Africa, and when I moved to Portugal at the age of five, my mother, my very first art mentor, coloured my early memories with a vibrant colour palette. The deep orange African sunsets, the vibrant pink flamingos and the magenta of the bougainvillaea were burnt into my imagination.

After a career in Teaching, PR and International Relations in Portugal, alongside which I was always creating, I embraced the cosmopolitan life of London, which became another daily inspiration for my art.

A couple of years ago, a seminal masterclass with Royal Academician David Mach opened analog collage and mixed media to me in a completely unexpected way, and I have never stopped creating since. 

I consider my art an invitation to reconnect to nature and ourselves. By juxtaposing urban life and nature, my pieces aim to evoke contemplation, and ultimately, a return to memories of more serene times as the start of a self-healing journey.

The enigmatic feminine figures akin to the relaxed presence of the wild motifs which serve as recreation of my own identity and suggest that nature can offer us the ability to restore tranquillity in a chaotic world. This is my inspiration: a message of hope and beauty, life and rebirth.

What and which artists have influenced your work?

New York Golden age/early Pop Art artists like Andy Warhol, the Young Artists Movement and British Pop Art like Peter Blake, photographers like Cecil Beaton (fashion) and Frans Lanting, (National Geographic), are important references for my work.

If you could collaborate with any artist past or present, who would you select and why?

I would definitely select working with Peter Blake. Blake is a leading figure in the pop art movement, and his work, most joyful and inventive, brings a message of optimism and cheerfulness to overcome hard times. 

He has been creating paintings, collages, and prints that blend modernity and nostalgia throughout his long artistic career, which clearly inspires my work. I am absolutely sure that I could learn immensely from the diversity of his techniques and mediums and his life-long love for art.

I deeply admire his late period and the fact that he continues creating, no longer interested in the art world’s opinion of his work, instead creating what he wants, being utterly genuine, regardless of its relation to his previous paintings and formed identity, His freedom of choice and creativity in his late compositions inspire me to be authentic, breaking the rules and following my inspiration, sharing a message of blissfulness with the world.

What can we expect to see from you in the future?

I intend to continue exploring different techniques and mediums in my works, participating in exhibitions and art fairs worldwide and collaborating with designers and other artists. 

I recently launched a limited-edition luxury cushion in collaboration with the Portuguese designer Joana Sá Cabanelas and the brand J.U.U.X. It is currently represented in several designer shops, at Sao Rafael Galleries and the store of the University of Porto. Soon it will also be represented at the store of the Maat Museum in Lisbon.

Moreover, I am currently preparing my N.F.T.S. launching, represented by a Swedish art gallery and a new Italian N.F.T.S. platform. This project will include a collaboration with a digital artist and a music producer.
