Charles James, Notorious - This 24”x36” acrylic on canvas painting was created as an homage to Ruth Bader Ginsburg . After she passed, I thought it was appropriate to create an image of her that was rough, colorful and expressive. She was a massive positive force for women’s rights and had the nick name “Notorious RBG” as a play on the rapper “Notorious BIG”. She was a very colorful character, so I tried to create an image to represent that.
Marta Carceller, Carrer del Lloro - 160cm x 100cm - acrylic on canvas, 2021 - Often, when we think of the streets of a city, noise, traffic, hurry and crowded streets come to our mind, but there are still quiet corners that give us peace, such as the one in the painting; a charming alley in Blanes, a few meters from the sea. Vertical lines are predominant, the shadows of which spread in the liberating space of the background, enhanced by the visual appeal of the telephone booth. The predominant ocher and gray shades create a warm atmosphere, very similar to the low light that the buildings let through to the floor. This work is executed with a loose but detailed technique, which creates the shapes and its textures by using brushstrokes.
Carol Foulger, That Southbank View - The view from the Southbank at low tide on the Thames is quite simply majestic. Low tide adds a whole new layer to the sights and sounds of life on the river and uncovers the multi-faceted structures that line the banks of the Thames.
Lilli Kirschmann, Enchanting Dream - A painting reflecting the life goal and dream of the painter. An enchanting and dreamy sunset while Lilli paints in her own cottage and enjoys the rich colors of Ireland`s nature - the juicy green grass, the fresh and blue ocean/rivers, the colorful cute flowers and a strong sunset to enhance all color shades. This painting is an interpretation of Cahersiveen. A town on the Iveragh Peninsula in South-West Ireland.
Gary Lennie, The Stare - This piece was completed just four weeks ago. It is an oil painting and the dimensions are 14” x 18”. When painting portraits my aim is always to create an image that looks alive yet remains unmistakably a painting as opposed to photorealism.
My method is as follows. I chose a smooth canvas board and stained it with a raw umber wash. I then drew the silhouette of the head and indicated the main features and shadow shapes also with raw umber paint. The painting was then completed in two further sessions. I used the Zorn palette (titanium white, cadmium red, yellow ochre and ivory black)
Marlene Jorge, Residumbre - Residumbre speaks of a self inner journey and the great strength acquired after completing it. A strength that serves to overcome hardships through our life path. This piece was digitally created.
Aleyda P. Olivares, Vincent - The animal as a reference to the human, of their emotions, feelings, behaviors.
Vincent is a sphynx cat - the naked cat breed par excellence - holding a small Alcedo Atthis bird in his right hand that represents kindness and hope. Vincent represents melancholy, the sadness that has taken on lightness. He has two opposite emotions, each one on hand, the right means hope and the explicit reference to the innocence of childhood the left hand which is injured in the wrist, is hugging her waist, denotes a posture of either pain or containment, helping to remain upright, standing. He embraces both sides.
Kateryna Brovkova, Ukrainian Ethnic Series: Energy Circle - Ukrainian Ethnic Series is like coding my genome into the art. In my artworks, there are many references to ancient ornaments, and culture, for example, motifs of the painted ceramics of the ancient Trypillia culture. As well as many references to the ancient ethnic group, and how colors, and shapes were interpreted in ancient times. For example, the oval shape means egg as a symbol of the beginning of beginnings, and cyclicality, a symbol of new life, and rebirth. All of the ornaments are conveying the concept of denoting love, faith, hope, and braveness. In ancient Ukrainian folklore, a very important place was given to celestials, flowers, herbs, and ancient Goddesses.
Miguel E, Story22 – “Ocean’s secrets whispering in my ears…” - ATM’s aim is to celebrate ART showcasing a large range of works from the participant artists. ART is to Miguel E a form of expression that makes us feel something, moves us, giving no room for indifference. Miguel E series “Stories” try to represent the deepest emotions of Woman’s soul, the feelings arisen from subtle single moments, from relations between People.
Following ATM, Miguel E aims to celebrate ART inviting All to “feel the emotions represented in each of the canvases and, due to their own interpretation, to see beyond”.
Miguel E, Story23 – “Ocean’s cool breeze refreshing my thoughts…” - ATM’s aim is to celebrate ART showcasing a large range of works from the participant artists. ART is to Miguel E a form of expression that makes us feel something, moves us, giving no room for indifference. Miguel E series “Stories” try to represent the deepest emotions of Woman’s soul, the feelings arisen from subtle single moments, from relations between People. Silvia Salvagno, FIRE V - In art, as in life, embracing the inner, ancestral intuition that’s inside one’s soul, is an act of courage, liberation, and rawest honesty. In Fire series, I worked trying to follow the Wild Woman’s[1] intuition, attempting a rendering of the Fire that inhabits our feminine essence. It is a tribute to all the women before us, and that will come after, passing down the “great power of intuition, composed of lightning-fast inner seeing, inner hearing, inner sensing, and inner knowing”[2]. [1]Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With The Wolves, chapter 3: The Retrieval of Intuition as Initiation [2] The concept of Wild Woman, according to Estés, is that of “the wild and innate instinctual Self”
Tannaz Shoaei Rad, Ocean Rock lights - I have been living in Dubai since 1998. Holding a Master of Arts. I’m doing Oil painting and acrylic. There are many ways to show an underwater environment. One of the easiest ways without getting wet is to show it by painting.
Sheila Romard, Layer by Layer - Sheila Romard original art – Layer by Layer the world recedes into the distance.
Christy Boaman, Debt - I believe what we bring into this life is exactly what we are meant to have. Both trauma and privledge have their place in self-discovery. Whether generational, social, personal, we all have lessons that we are meant to learn in the process. This work, this effort to grow, is our debt. This Karmic debt must be paid.
At best, that debt keeps us from others and at worst, that debt keeps us from ourselves.
This conceptual piece is acrylic on canvas panel. I chose green for the focal point, because it symbolizes growth.
Liz Darrell, Venus Divine - So much of recorded history ignores the leaders and icons of marginalized peoples. So many trailblazers deserved the grandiose portraits of yore, but never got them. The goal of the series this piece is a part of, “Recorded Herstory,” is to take some of the most well known paintings of epic moments in time and replace the subject with a queer icon. These paintings were done by geniuses with a specific message prioritized over accuracy— be it strength, nobility, beauty, or even the divine. Our icons deserve the same treatment. The series is an opportunity to percolate on the fact that despite not being portrayed as some of the world’s most influential members, we are just as deserving.
Sahar Ehsan, When I Fall, I Fly - This emotive piece is a reminder that not every fall is a failure, but it in fact is a learning experience, essential to fly higher and grow stronger in life. The focal point in this piece portrays imperfect yet glowing butterfly wings (representing strength and wisdom that comes with experience) surrounded by complete darkness (representing hardships) mirroring an abstract representation of ‘light at the end of tunnel’.
Sally Broadbent, Floating (2022) - Sally works with the alternative photographic process of cyanotype. Using a custom-built UV light unit, 3-dimensional objects can be exposed as photograms. Using herself and her children as models, she exploits the ethereal character produced by the process of cyanotype. Research into the differing quality of line produced by using and combining 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional objects informs her practice and represents the spiritual side of our nature alongside what we know to be real. Sally’s interest in duality is echoed by the unnatural blue of cyanotype and the metaphorical allusions of the colour, simultaneously joyful and ominous.
Pol Petrino, Im 15 - Earth, a suspended place where time has stopped. It is inhabited by drowned giants,
time ago powerful and impenetrable, hosting the most precious asset, Life. These giants will live, again,
generating a new life, in a continuous process of life and death.
Kateryna Brovkova, Ukrainian Ethnic Series: The Life Circle - Ukrainian Ethnic Series is like coding my genome into the art.
Birke Dedig, Calm in the Storm - “Calm in the Storm” reflects the inner turmoil we all experience when we go through hard times. The deep blue in the middle represents what keeps us calm and steady in the middle of whatever storm you are facing - our family, our values, our beliefs and our self respect. Being securely anchored in what gives our life meaning and purpose is what carries us through difficult times, it motivates us to see this through and keeps our focus on the positive rewards challenging times instill in us: patience, endurance, wisdom, greater self awareness and self esteem.
Denisa Elena Stan, Love - This 3D acrylic painting represents the “butterflies in stomack” feeling once you discover your first love. As the heart seem to get out of the canvas the butterflies are peacefully sitting on it . I wish to give the art lovers the feeling of love that I had when I created it.
Leigh Witherell, Ocean Life in Abstract - Ocean Life in Abstract: Florida is populated with fantastic ocean life and reefs, but it is also populated with many talented artists who paint these scenes in stunning realism. I decided to see what I could do with an abstract rendering of these same scenes on a 10x24 inch canvas. I am a fluid abstract artist and I decided to use varying shades of blues, oranges, yellows and silver. There are no brush strokes in this piece as the composition was manipulated using an air blower. I am fascinated with the ocean and all its wonderous colors and beauty and Florida is providing me with an unlimited supply of inspriation.
Elena Gusareva, RAIN SEASON - Created during the covid-time in 2021, this artwork was inspired by the memory of the rainy season in Indonesia. This was one of our last trips before the pandemic. My husband, little daughter and I walked across rainy rice terraces. The sky was very heavy, and the rain was our companion. We got wet to the skin.
The RAIN SEASON artwork is an acrylic painting on a cotton canvas. Hemp cord was used to create the structure effects. 12 W x 24 H x 0.4 D inch.
Davide Saco, Moving - “Moving” is a piece of the “Feelings” series, ongoing since 2020. The search for simplicity is the basis of this work. Focusing on the use of a few shades of color, very saturated and widely spatulated and distinct from the others, particular attention is paid to the free and energetic gestures, in the controlled randomness that the artist wants to express in the various forms assumed by the color. Creating an almost whirling movement that makes the various elements amalgamate as a whole, the artist wants to impart this sense of energy to the color that ultimately transmits in the observer.
Gabriela De Paz, Melting Ice - Melting Ice is a watercolor painting based on a trip I took to Iceland ten years ago. I remember feeling that the country was beautiful but also vaguely unsettling due to its inhospitable and barren nature. In my work I relate memories of places with my own emotional states, blurring the lines between abstraction and representation.
Maroula Lambis, Marie #2 - This piece brings attention to Marie van Goethem, Degas’ model for Little Dancer. The duality in the piece [sculpture/shadow, image/thread, recto/verso] echoes her life as a ballerina of the Paris Opera Ballet. In the 1800s girls Marie’s age entered the ballet school to earn a wage, ostensibly relieving their families of poverty. Overworked and underpaid, their bodies belonged to the Stage, and behind the scenes to their Protectors - wealthy older men who took them on as courtesans. My intention with these works is to spotlight Womens Rights and the abuse of power against women and their bodies. Although small gains towards Womens Equality have been achieved, many injustices continue to this day.
Petra Forman, Egons dancing Adele, 2022 - Based on Egon Schiele’s works of art, this work of a dancing woman was created, it shows the recently deceased sister in a dancing position of the artist, who always danced with her eyes closed and lips pursed.
Alejandra Valdivia, Gathering II - This picture is part of a series of photographs captured with a drone in the cove of Tongoy, Chile. In this research I focus on fishing boats, the story that each one can tell us and also the relationship between them.
In this image we can see a gathering of these boats just before sunrise. I am interested in the composition in the upper two thirds, which gives a sense of lightness to the image and makes us feel that the boats are moving upwards, towards the horizon.
{Alice}, Testing the Water - 60x80cm Acrylic on wood - I had never been here. This was new. A small body of water, a tiny pool, separated from the ocean. While the ocean is fairly cold, this pond is warm, as it has been heating up peacefully under the sun. A gust of wind or a touch of toes creates small ripples, in circles that go away and never come back. The surface of the water also reflects what is above: clouds, birds and planes. My feet are discovering what lies at the bottom. Unknown sensations, as I step on rocks, sand, algae or twigs. I still get shivers when I get in. And when I get out of it, the clouds of disturbed matter settle under the water, the surface comes back to its tranquil stillness, reflecting the sky creating new pictures, connections in my mind.
Charles James, Innocents of War - This 30”x30” acrylic on canvas painting was created in response to the Ukrainian War. Every day I see the people of Ukraine being killed and displaced from their country. The innocent people, especially the children are affected in ways most of us will never know or understand. The children have lost their innocence...at a time in their lives when they should be learning, growing, and being excited by life, they are thrown into this senseless war Putin has started. It’s very sad. The kids are full of life and hope and I know are resilient.
Charles James, Basquiat 62 - This 48”x60” acrylic on canvas painting was created as an homage to Basquiat. He died in 1988 at the age of 27. Today, he would be 62 years old! I imagined that if he were alive now, he would be pretty amazed at the technology (iphones, NFTs) and all the events he’s missed since his passing. The painting is a representation of his 62 year old self, done in his neo-expressionistic style.

Mia Delores, Cielo - This a 40x30 portrait painting of my brother who passed away two years ago. Cielo means heaven in Spanish and I named it that because he’s truly my angel and I know he’s in a better place. As my medium I used oil/acrylic. I also painted light glares around him to represent how a camera can create a glare from light.
He was very photogenic and always loved being in front of the camera. I really enjoyed using a mix of both oil and acrylic paint. Oil paint helped me blend certain parts of his face to make it more realistic and acrylic paint helped me create more texture to make the painting more 3D like.
Paul Ming Tanner, Practice - Drawing inspiration from daily life within a construction company, I begin with a spatial concept for my background and progress gradually with figurative poses that I feel comply with the background.
A gap of ten years from painting after studying it in London, I have resumed my experimental approach by adding colours and switching to realism on certain focused areas to practice my bearings around the canvas and paints; Hence the subject in question and the self explanatory title ‘Practice’.
Steve Jensen, Nordic Sunken Vessel - For me, the boats are meant to symbolize a voyage or journey, perhaps it is the voyage to the other side or a journey into the unknown. My parents are from Norway. My father was a fisherman. My grandfather was a fisherman. My other grandfather was a boat builder. Upon the death of my parents, I made a boat for their ashes and buried them at sea. Something like a contemporary Viking funeral. I also made a boat for my best friend and former partner, again burying them at sea. These deaths were extremely tragic. My best friend died of AIDS, my father committed suicide, my mother fell apart emotionally and physically and my former partner from alcoholism.
Monika Majer, without further ado (moment) - without further ado (moment) is a sculpture made of Franconian Jura Limestone, which is quarried in Southern Germany. The photo shows the sculpture in the creek bed of the Zipfelbach stream, which flows through a gorge down the Swabian Albtrauf. Like the sculpture, the Albtrauf is consisting of Jura limestone. The sculpture tells of this connection, the flow of the stone’s history of origin and this one moment experiencing NOW. poetic notes on the sculpture pausing moved / centred in space / spreading out / unnameable specific / in one / recognizing
Benjamin Haulenbeek, Eye Candy - As an artist, I like to explore working with a wide variety of vibrant colors, textures, and dimension. My work is meant to be felt and touched.
Eye Candy is a mixed medium piece that displays the thick, dimensional texture I love coupled with simplicity and vibrance. It is inspired by the day to day art that is truly all around us. That could be a fresh snowfall, or the texture of my dog Grace’s beautiful champagne coat.
Benjamin Haulenbeek, Out of Time - As an artist, I like to explore working with a wide variety of vibrant colors, textures, and dimension. My work is meant to be felt and touched.
Out of Time is a mixed medium piece that displays the thick, dimensional texture I love coupled with simplicity and vibrance. It is inspired by the day to day art that is truly all around us. That could be a fresh snowfall, or the texture of my dog Grace’s beautiful champagne coat.
Anthony Ortiz, Untitled # 55 - Is a reflection of Florida and the ocean with its many transforming eco systems. I wanted to create a pour series that captures the essence of the ocean. This was the first of the drip pour series. The painting is 36x48 canvas done with interior house paint and ink.
Lorna Robertson, Painting for 18 Musicians - “Painting for 18 Musicians” is a painting about using colour to express sound - visualising musical time, movement and rhythm as the subject. The painting took shape while I was thinking about the continuous curves of sound waves, and how a digital sound recording is split into tiny discrete chunks (many thousands per second). The title was inspired by a live performance of Steve Reich’s ‘Music for 18 Musicians’, a minimalist composition written between 1974–1976. On hearing the piece for the first time, the visualisations that occurred during the performance influenced the development of the painting, and encapsulated the ideas around the structure and behavior of music and abstraction.
Sanjida Sharmin Mity, Music from Heaven - A contemporary artwork. It is painted on a glass piece with alcohol, acrylic, water and oil base colors (18 in X 24 in frame). Variety of naturel elements used for textures.
Shulamit Kopf, Rap in Red - Ink and acrylic on canvas with a bit of collage, this work is filled with intricate ink marks that form intriguing, sophisticated patterns. The colors sepia, red and black are an unusual combination. Is that a flag at the upper left? It is black and white horizontal strips. Is the worship of flags a call to arms?
Alisa Burachuk, The Simple Movements vol.1. - This series of artworks is inspired by Kandinsky’s studies about a dot and a line. I would call this particular direction an organic abstract art. The organic shapes “dancing” in the space, moving gently, pushed by the circumstances of their experience. They represent the seeds of life, living matter which is obliged to deform in the face of an abstract graphic matter. The Simple Movements collection was made using mixed media for the base layers, geometric objects and lines. On the opposite side the oil paint was used for the organic shapes. This approach allows the viewer to distinguish objects and their role on the canvas.
Alice Gur-Arie, A Tangle of Shadows, from the new series Tende Flowers - The Alps Maritimes in the south of France are rugged, with astounding views over the Mediterranean Sea. Hiking in the mountains is demanding, but it is an inspiring landscape, and I knelt to photograph the many shapes and patterns of the dried leaves and flowers in my path.
I imagined them highly textured, in a palette of rich, saturated colours, so, treating the photograph as my canvas, I interpreted as I repainted the photograph by hand digitally in layers to achieve washes, enlarging the image to paint pixel by pixel where detail required. One-of-a-kind giclee print.
Derick Kurtz, Dia de Los Difuntos - Derick Kurtz, originally from Ft. Collins, Colorado, now resides in the Tampa Bay area, bringing his fresh acrylic funk style to the gulf coast of Florida. Derick has been an artist his whole life, although he’ll be the first to tell you that it’s taken a lot of hard work and dedication to get where he is in his art journey today. He’s developed a lot over his years as an artist and has learned from some amazing mentors who have helped him cultivate his unique style. Derick had the opportunity to learn from Zoey Stevens, previous Art Director for Disney, in his garage in Cali. Zoey taught him how to make his own canvas and really pushed him to test his art limits.
Maitha Alazawi, 99 Names of Allah - My 99 names of Allah painting was made with positive energy. The Energy will be to everyone who falls his eyes on it. The colors of the painting make you smile every time you look at it. What is the reason this painting has positive energy and high spirituality? Is that from the day I started with it till the end a special positive vibration has been opened in the space with Qur’an. Meditation Practices were made when I am working with it. I used oil painting in this art piece and it took me 3 months to finish it. Also, the painting was finished on a very special and lucky date which is 10/10.
Beate Steinmetz, Stay Strong - The protagonists of my portraits are people, mostly women, with attitude, strength and that certain indefinable something. I seek to go beyond the traditional portrait, therefore I focus less on likeness as more on capturingthe beauty and strengh in their characters. I attempt to uncover the unseen qualities of the person ortheir emotions. To describe the fisical appearance I use monocromatic skintones but to reflect their personality or a certain moodI use a palet of several carefully choosed colours. Most of my portraits have a direct eye contact, which aims to establish a connection with the viewer to offer the oportunity to interpret his own perception of the painting.
Pedro Kubrick, Metamorphosis in space - Metamorphosis in Space talks about the evolution that some human beings are experiencing in our world in these changing times. In space we found this character being crossed by a light ray that makes his colors change while being scanned by a robotic arm. Most of my artwork is inspired by music and its sounds, has a futuristic, cyberpunk and neon-laden aesthetic, often manifested with surreal, experimental and sensory scenarios, and that aims you to travel far through music vibrations contained in this artwork within the metaverse.
Tara, “The In Between” Ascension Series, 16x20 - In life, there are moments where we are neither happy nor sad, where we are indifferent in our own lives. When this happens and we find ourselves in this place…we are stuck, in “The In Between”. “The In Between” is a place where you should not reside but where you can process what has passed and plan what is to come. It is the place where we can chart our next steps and begin the process of ascension to a desired space.
Luchina Akhmad, Vienna - Taking pictures, editing, creating collages, summarized in a simple illustration capturing some personal favorite key objects in shots taken around Vienna.
KADAMBINI CHOUBEY, Mizan (Arabic word meaning Balance) -
Time is Free, but it is Priceless!
You cannot Own it.. but you can Use it!
You cannot Keep it.. but you can Spend it!
Once you’ve Lost it.. you can never Get it back!!
Life is short.. Time is fast.. no replay.. no rewind.. no refund.. use it with intention.. enjoy every moment!
Balance work n life!
Thaer Maarouf, effect - The artwork expresses itself! The negative impact of war and climate change!
Vinitte Chen, Last Rites - Vinitte Chen is a young artist whose main works break away from common art forms such as painting and installation art. As a result of her experiences in different environments, she has been exposed to various natural landscapes, cultural products, and artistic edification. This has inspired her to express our multifaceted world in her own way.Through controlling the interactions between the UV light and her pieces through viewer involvement, those who interact with her art are able to perceive her works in their own unique way, allowing them to break through the artists intended interpretation and find their own meaning.
g.f. , The Bare Minimum I - The work is the first one in a series of paintings exploring minimalism through the hardedge heritage with the utilization of vibrant colors to achieve playfulness and a vibrant harmony. For this particular piece, the canvas was prepared with acrylic gouache to achieve a matte finish and to provide a high contrast against the flourescent colors applied.
Christiane Ahlers, Summer tale - My painting “Summer tale” was inspired by the lightness of being which I experience as an artist. Light cloudy structures and soft colours symbolise the light-heartedness of my art, which always captivates me. My art is very varied and with this piece I have had the chance to create something new by experimenting with different colours and textures in a very carefree way. The brush swings across the canvas from deep within my heart, and so this work was created on a beautiful summer evening in my studio - with a feather-light white wine, relaxed jazz and a smile on my lips. Can you also feel the lightness of being?
Nadine Kooiker, Earth, Wood and Fire - All ancient healing traditions believed that our bodies are made up of a combination of natural elements. Through these lenses, our ancestors were able to understand the human, mental, emotional and physical constitution to successfully heal their body and minds. Feng shui teaches that the elements can be balanced through their interactions with other elements. The energy of this painting represents the colours and shapes of Earth, Wood and Fire. Earth energy is nurturing, caring, grounded and maternal, whilst fire is the most powerful and active of all Feng Shui elements, representing passion, energy and enthusiasm. Wood stands for growth and creativity. This painting awakens, activates and grounds.
Mary Trend and Yuliana Sibalo, Flow #3 - Our paintings are not formally created as paintings, as they are non-deliberate and unintentional, the only intention is to let the painting paint itself, formless and without context; using the medium of watercolour allows for us to let the painting create its own flow. This collaborative process is meant to assist us in creating trust with ourselves, each other, and the rhythms of nature. This particular work was created on a sunny Sunday morning while discussing Brazilian jungles.
When we feel like the painting is finished we notice what we see, and in this one we see a tropical penguin kissing a flamingo. What can you see?
Shawn-Paul Thompson, Making a Spectacle - This piece is a mixed medium, deeply textured Abstract Landscape on Canvas. It speaks to the freedom to be your authentic self.
I am a Toronto Based Abstract painter. My journey to Art is an interesting story, as a surprise mentorship with an Artist, re-woke my passion for the visual arts, and motivated me to leap from the Corporate World, to the Canvas. Here is an article on my journey..:
Joss Liao, Material Experiment No.64 (the shine) - Research-based and material driven, my practice revolves around sensual representation of the body in pain. Material Experiment No.64 (The Shine) was created using a technique called slumping. I laid a piece of skin-tone glass plate on a cluster of nails and let it sink into the nails as the temperature rises. The plate eventually took shape of the nails and was suspended in the making process, a slice of time. Through this piece, I drew parallel between the elasticity and skin-like qualities of glass and the metaphorical body. It delivers the membrane qualities of glass as well as nuanced emotions that hints at visceral, intimate and tender experiences. This work inspired a subsequent solo show titled A Place To Land.
Serdar Uzar, Circles - My vision for this artwork was to create a multicoloured piece using papers and quilling techniques. I wanted to make a creation where you can get lost, following the colours and at the same time enjoy the colour movements within the circles.
Nasiri Guzman, Buscando el Punto - My mind is always at work. Overthinking just to try to find the point of action. Oil on Canvas (16”x20”)
Tara, “Octavia” Earth Series, 18x24 - Octavia is a bold and expressive representation of the strength and determination of women. Looking into the future and envisioning the abundance of possibilities ahead. The diverse colors characterize positivity and hope, the right turn of the head illustrates not always staying the course originally laid out but noticing and seizing the opportunity to travel a new, bright and unknown path. This piece pays homage to my favorite author Octavia Butler and her visionary and pioneering “works of art”.
Veronica Larrea Chandler, Free Will - Veronica Larrea Chandler, creates works that embody the power of raw femininity and the human connection to the Earth and Mother Nature.
Inspired by the overturned Roe v Wade she created a candid piece that plays with the idea of liberty, choice and free will trying to evoke a controversial feeling towards the legality of abortion in the USA.
Arani Halder, People, Period. - People, Period. is an artist’s book that is tailored to women of the Indian Peninsula and is aimed at addressing the stigma surrounding menstruation in South Asia, while also raising awareness on safe menstrual health. It contains anecdotes from the people of the peninsula, age-old remedies for menstrual health issues, suggested sustainable menstrual products, Hindu myths surrounding the process and the science behind menstruation.
In a time where bodily autonomy and agency are being challenged for people who menstruate and can give birth, People, Period. aims to give back a small aspect of one’s right over their body.
Sophie Ruoyu Zhang, paski. oil, coffee, charcoal on canvas - Sophie Ruoyu Zhang is a Chinese artist born in 1999, currently lives in Brooklyn, NY, US. “Working as a ‘diffraction apparatus’”, her practice utilizes multiple natural materials(napa cabbage, wine, coffee, etc.). Her oil painting, printmaking, and performance respond to and reinterpret the natural objects that are in a limbo of recognition, permeating poetics, on the threshold of the subjecthood, the recognizable and the representable. Under the aspect of asemic arts, the achievement of “words”/”scores” in symbiosis with humans, nature, and the autonomous poetics that adds new perspectives to art by incorporating ideas from material ecocriticism and post-nature.
Christopher Lovesky, The Hand of Mysteries - The Hand of Mysteries (also referred to as ‘The Hand of the Mason’ or ‘The Hand of the Philosopher’) is an ancient symbol first seen in the 18th century derived from the mysterious field of Alchemy. It depicts the symbols of apotheosis, or the transformation of man into “god”. The hand is believed to be an invitation to discover the greatest secrets our universe has to offer as its symbols hold the keys to divinity. However, it’s not just something that can be taught… you must discover them on your own. Once the secrets are learned and the hand is opened you are in a sense reborn. Your view of the world will never be the same.
Alex Khoury, Yellowcraig Beach - This is a 24x18cm oil on canvas board painting of Yellowcraig Beach on Scotland’s East Coast. I painted this from a photograph taken by me late one evening in the Summer. I am a trainee plastic surgeon with a love of painting and this piece was inspired by my recent move to Edinburgh, and the beautiful seascapes that Scotland has to offer.
Fruits Quartz, Space Bird - If you draw a cosmic flower with fireworks, it will eventually become a bird. It expresses that both flowers and birds were born from the light of the universe. Another feature of my work is that you can see a different picture after the work is completed. This time, when the work was completed, it looked like the bird was in the cup. In my work, I can see the perspective of how much the subject’s structure is complete and how much the current damage is, and how much it can be repaired by this art. I mean you can look at it from an art therapy perspective.
